California’s central valley is a great place to live. There’s sun all year long, one of the most diverse populations in the world, and produce section at the grocery store was picked practically that morning. But if you don’t like the smallish farming communities that dot the landscape and aren’t a fan of big metropolitan areas like Sacramento, it might be difficult to find a town to your liking to settle down in. Of course, that’s largely because a lot of people don’t know about Roseville.

Located just 20 miles northeast of Sacramento’s city center, Roseville is a relatively small city just at the edge of the foothills that has grown dramatically in the last few years. At this point, Roseville has everything you get with a big city: hospitals, movie theaters, a mall… without the congestion or the constant hustle and bustle of living nearer to a city center.

The landscape of Roseville also offers a lot of options. There’s no one look or feel that defines the whole city. If you like having a lot of neighbors and always being able to keep busy, there are busy neighborhoods near a lot of businesses where you would never feel alone. Just a few miles away, there are sprawling hillside communities where you could have an overlook out your front window or a creek in your backyard. And if you have business in Sacramento, it’s a short drive down highway 80.

The location of Roseville offers all the advantages of living in a central valley location. The mountains aren’t far away, nor is the beach. Highway 80, which runs right through the middle of town, can take you almost anywhere you want to go: Reno is just two hours northeast, San Francisco is just two hours southwest, and the lovely Folsom Lake is just a five mile jaunt through city streets.

If you’ve been looking to move in the central valley and have found Sacramento not quite to your tastes, Roseville might be right up your alley.
